Our Advanced Search feature allows you to retrieve law firm profiles matching your search criteria in four different ways. If your search term appears in a firm’s profile, that firm and the location of its main office will be listed in your search results. For best search results, we offer the following suggestions:
Simple searches work best
- One or two substantive words describing a single practice area or legal topic will retrieve a comprehensive list of firms. You can then quickly review their profiles and determine which merit further attention.
Use complete words
- With the following exceptions, you should enter the complete word in your search and not use abbreviations:
Lit is okay for Litigation
Exec Comp is okay for Executive Compensation
Avoid unnecessary words
- For best results, do not include generic words such as law, practice, firm or group in your search request. Such terms will not improve your search results.
Avoid punctuation and connectors
- For best results, do not include punctuation or connector words (e.g. and, of, &) in your search requests.
Be Creative
- For practice area searches, remember that two firms may have different names for identical practice areas. You may need to try multiple searches using different search words for best results.
Write out City Names
- For geographic searches, enter the complete name of a US or international city and avoid abbreviations.
Use One Firm Name
- For name searches, use any single name from a firm’s full firm name to retrieve its profile or use the alphabetical listing on the home page.
Seminars and Events
- For seminar and event searches, enter a legal topic, month or city to find matching seminars and events.
