Foster Care

Foster care is where a child under the age of 18 is given into the custody of a legal guardian to ensure that he/she is receiving basic necessities of life such as food, shelter, clothing, and education. The term foster care most often refers to foster institutes where children and other young people who do not have families are taken care of. At times, children are also given up for adoption to families who are unable to have off-springs of their own and are willing to adopt. The adoption process takes place through the social service agencies and is a legal procedure.
